Wireless Access

Wireless started out as a mere convenience, but has evolved into a technology that is often expected now. There are two types of wireless technologies you will likely be interested in. First, there is the Wireless Access Point (WAP) that requires close proximity to the transmitter. This is the type of wireless access often found in airports, hotels, businesses, and even homes. It requires you to be within about 100 feet of the transmitter. Inside that proximity, you can gain the same access you would get by plugging into a hard wired Ethernet connection. You enter a security password and you're connected.

The second type of wireless access you are likely to be interested in is Broadband wireless. This type of wireless uses the networks of cellular companies such as Verizon, sprint and others. You would have a monthly fee just like you would for a cell phone, you would then plug the broadband card into your laptop and sign on, ultimately connecting you to the Internet, at which time you could access whatever public resources you need, or connect to your private network through a VPN connection. We can assist you in getting set up with either of these methods of wireless access.
